About the Spacefaring Union

A Site for Meaningful, Professionally Polished Fiction

Mission & Purpose

Right now, the Spacefaring Union is just me — one author managing both the writing and the technical work needed to present it professionally. Producing polished stories takes effort, and running the website, handling HTTPS, formatting, and distribution adds even more.

The vision is bigger than one person. I aim to build a space where multiple authors who share these values can collaborate, contributing their strengths — whether that’s writing, giving feedback, or promoting work — while I manage the technical infrastructure. Together, we can create fiction that is meaningful, polished, and accessible without any single person bearing all the effort alone.

Who We Are / Ethos

  • Authenticity first: Stories reflect what matters to their authors.
  • Professional polish: Technique and production ensure the work is readable, accessible, and immersive.
  • Shared effort: While it’s just me for now managing the technical side, the goal is a collective where authors support each other in writing, feedback, and promotion.
  • Meaningful connection: Fiction is powerful when it expresses something the author believes in, even if it doesn’t fit a traditional market.

We focus on quality over quantity. Our aim is to produce work as polished and complete as anything from a major publisher, while sharing the effort fairly among contributors.

Governance & Participation

I envision the Spacefaring Union becoming a self-publishing mutual aid society, not a traditional publisher. Think of it as a club:

  • Membership: You join by contributing your work and taking part in club activities. Once the site scales to require cloud hosting, volume email, and direct sales that will be supported by dues.
  • Ownership: Your writing remains entirely yours. We do not claim any rights to your work.
  • Services & Benefits: Members can take advantage of shared resources — professional-quality formatting, visibility on the site, forums, and other cooperative tools.
  • Branding & Attribution: You can choose to use Spacefaring Union graphics and branding, or not. It’s entirely up to you.
  • Support for Fellow Members: Mentioning the Union site in your back matter helps other members gain exposure, but it is optional.

Membership is simple: participate, share, benefit, and enjoy a community of like-minded authors. There are no complicated contracts or obligations — just a shared commitment to professional-quality work and mutual support.
